Whats Happening at Work!

I have been writing down a few of the funny things the kids have said to me lately and wanted to share…

I was on duty in the morning and a girl I had last year came to chit chat.

M: “So how is Mr. Brian?”

Me: “You know what he is good, just busy working.”

M: “Oh, well how is Fiona?”

Me: “She is great, but she did chew up one of my shoes the other day!” Meanwhile I took out my pump to give myself some insulin…

M: “Oh so I see you still have diabetes.”

Giggling Me: “Yes M, yes I do!”

Such a serious conversation and such a funny question! :)
B: “Mrs. West, Can I get your phone number?”

Me: “Why do you want my phone number buddy?”

B: “Well…I want to come to your house.”

Me: “Why do you want to come to my house?”

B: So serious… “So we can play!”

Too cute!

I hear a child calling someone from a distance…It sounds like Mrs. Breast, Mrs. Breast!
I turn to look at someone waving to me!!! West/Breast…hey they rhyme!! :)

I have to admit some days I am glad the day is over, but at the same time
I love what I do and I sure do love them!!

We just added the West Yummy Shack to the classroom! It’s a restaurant/store/drive thru! I have been setting it up and the kids keep asking if it is OPEN( I am keeping them in suspense, hehe). We decorated the outside and the kids just kept throwing out their input…Put an open sign, lets write a menu, the watermelon should be like $20, why don’t you draw a picture of you and Mr. Brian eating outside (unfortunately there was only room for me and the talking bubble)! They cant wait to get in it!

To Grandma and Grandpas House...We Go!

We went to have lunch with Grandma and Grandpa not too long ago! Something we need to do way more often! It is so nice to be with them, we chit chat about this and that (and this time we watched inappropriate dating game shows...they were talking about you know what with G & G at the table! Not like it was really a big deal...they could care less...but all we could do was look left and then look right...you know what I mean :) We took a quick stop at the lake by their house so Fiona could run a bit...oh and we stopped at Sunrise Rest Stop. She looks like Queen Sheeba in the back seat with her
Princess pillow courtesy of my mom.

Happy (Late) Valentine’s Day!!

I have been meaning to post but it finally got me…the death like feeling sickness that has been going around! Kids have been out left and right at school but I was keeping my fingers crossed that it wouldn’t get me! Last Saturday after hiking I had this weird feeling in my chest like the wind had been knocked out of me. On Sunday we were playing tennis and I had to stop because my chest was hurting too bad. Something wasn't right! I had to go to school on Monday because we were having a party but all day I felt terrible. I went to the Urgent Care after school and I ended up with Bronchitis. I had chills, my head felt like it was going to pop off, I couldn't breathe... the whole nine! Brian tried to stay clear but it got him late Tuesday night so home is where we have been for the last week feeling Terrible!!! Still not feeling fantastic but just want to kick it and quick!

Back to Valentine's Day... we enjoyed a Valentine's Day Picnic in the Park! I made chocolate covered strawberries...I have to admit that I am terrible at melting chocolate!!! They tasted great but I would definitely get an F for looks! I made potato salad, we got a yummy sandwich from Sprouts and we had the champagne. It was an inexpensive and fun Valentine's day for us! I hope everyone enjoyed theirs!

Fruit and Nut Bars

Kristian and I really like these bars…

But we decided we could make our own! We purchased the following from Sprouts:

Cranberries
Cherries
Apricots

Honey

Sunflower Seeds
Seasame Seeds
Soy Nuts

Almonds
Cashews
Peanuts

We put the fruit and honey in the food processor then added that sticky mess to the nuts and seeds.

Folded it all together
and Wah-Lah!!
Fruit and Nut bars.
Very easy and quite tasty! :)

Learn to...

Oooh! I found this on one of the blogs I check regularly and loved it!!! Had to share...

“Learn to like what doesn’t cost too much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different…different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction of doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the songs of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house, and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter day.
Learn to keep your wants simple, and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.”

99 Cents Only...

I have been raving about this place to friends and thought I would show you what I have been talking about! I have been buying my produce at the 99 Cents Only store and have been very happy with all of it. The trick (which I have just figured out) is to ask what days the delivery comes in and that’s when you get the good stuff! The guy there asked if I had seen the strawberries and I told him I did but was worried they wouldn’t be good. He went in the back and washed off one for each of us to try and they were bomb!!

Here is a pic of the things I have recently picked up…

I use the Dole Smoothie makers pictured for breakfast smoothies...I add oatmeal and the mini bananas are perfect (don't look too mini but they are).

That green thing is a brocauliflower (broccoli+cauliflower mix), have tried it yet but excited to.

The Crystal Light Fitness drink things are really good. The peppers keep me going back the most, I have recently acquired quite the love for peppers (not green though) They are .79 cents and in the stores they are up to a $1.79 each.

The big Spring Mix salad thing is sold at Costco for more than a dollar ;)
The arugula mix (so good) and the cranberry walnut salad mix is delicious.

Last week I got the Athenos greek yogurts 3 for .99. They are a dollar or more each in the grocery stores. They had strawberry, blueberry and honey!

I have also picked up almonds, frozen berries, big portabella mushrooms, Pillsbury cookies, and Pace Salsa. I usually get the Dole steamed potato bag but they just didn’t look as great this time. That is another trick…check the expiration date. Most of the time they have a few more weeks or more but occasionally on the yogurts they can expire a week out.

So again you can see why I have been a 99 cent store spokesman ;)
Happy Shopping!
